Most of the members joined the Innovation Engineering Research Alliance, which is comprised of the following research group:
- Air Vehicle Research Group (AVDRG)
- Applied Aerodynamic Research Group (AARG)
- Aircraft Dynamics, Guidance & Control Research Group (ADGCRG)
- Rocketry Technology Research Group (RocTERG)
- Gas Turbine Combustion Research Group (GTCRG)
- Computational Solid Mechanics Research Group (CSMRG)
In year 2015, Aeronautical panel managed to secure 11 new research grants in various sponsors amounting to RM830387.20. In general, there are 16 active research projects carried out by aeronautical panel in various areas of aeronautical studies.
Ocean Engineering panel (Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering Research Group) under the Innovation Engineering Research Alliance actively conducts their research by engaging collaborations with various institutions and companies in Malaysia such as Johor Port Authority (JPA), Malaysia International Shipping Corporation Berhad (MISC), Boustead Naval Shipyard (BNS), Sime Darby Berhad, Association of Marine Industries of Malaysia (AMIM), Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering (MMHE), Sabah Shell Petroleum Co., and Technip Malaysia. At the international level, the research group established collaboration with Royal Institution of Naval Architect (RINA), Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST), International Towing Tank Conference (ITTC) and the Marine Research Institutes of Netherlands (MARIN) as well. In 2015, the Ocean Engineering panel managed to secure a considerably huge amount of research grant total of RM 831, 700 through 5 different projects.

In 2015, staffs of automotive panel were able to secure few research grants under Researc University Grant (RUG), Prototype Research Grant Scheme (PRGS), Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) and others. The projects were related to engine simulation on bio-fuel, automotive turbocharger, automotive brake noise and contaminant, fibre metal laminates composite of automotive sturcture and hybrid vehicle with total research grants amount of RM3.923 million.
