IJN-UTM Cardiovascular Engineering Centre was established in 2013 with a collaboration between Institut Jantung Negara (National Heart Institute) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. It was launched by Y.A.B. Tan Sri Dato’ Muhyiddin bin Hj. Mohd. Yassin with the vision ‘To be recognized as a world class centre of excellence in the area of cardiovascular engineering’. In achieving 3 main objectives: 1. To develop technology and product for cardiovascular application; 2. To develop human capital In the field of cardiovascular science and engineering; 3. To implement technology, product and management system for cardiovascular clinical practice; this centre is emerging with new development of several cardiovascular devices and products such as wearable health monitor, mobile health assistant, telecardiology system, stent, image guided intervention, etc.
Established in 2013, Media and Game Innovation Centre of Excellence (MaGICX) is a strategic cooperation between Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) to support and promote the development and ecosystem of creative industry that focuses on gamification and enrichment of digital content. MaGICX will play an integral part as the anchor for the Iskandar Malaysia Innovation Valley envisioned to offer industry players/SMEs/clients technical expertise/consultation, research/product development, business development, publishing, marketing and/or training in producing commercially.
Aspires to create an environment that contributes toward talent development, industry promotion, knowledge-sharing, and international collaboration, MaGICX’s credits include projects related to augmented reality, mixed and virtual environment, image processing, computer vision, multimedia software engineering, medical computing, computer interaction, human interface, usability, animation and technology, speech and signal processing, visualization, multimedia and software innovation, and emerging technology.
Sports Innovation Technology Centre (SITC) is an internationally renowned research centre for research and consultancy, with over 4 years of cumulative experience. The centre was established in 2011 as the Sports Innovation and Technology Centre by Professor. Dr. Abdul Hafidz Omar at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. This centre offers interdisciplinary pursuits in this emerging field where engineering techniques and technologies from various disciplines are used to address needs in the sport industries. Here he laid the foundation for developing sports technology as a field of academic study.
