Doctor of Philosophy In Information Systems
This is a page will provide a guidance regarding on full research PhD program for those who intend to further their studies in the field of Information Systems. The main aim of the program is to educate professionals and academic research scholars to perform high quality IS research. They will be able to apply the Information Systems and Technology theories in analysing and solving real organizational problem innovatively.
This program is designed in such a way that students will be guided in developing the technical and empirical research skills. The taught courses in the first year introduce the students with a broad knowledge of research paradigms, Information Systems theory and current Information Systems research. Through research methodology course, different research orientations and methods will be introduced.
i. Masters in Computer Science/IT/Comp. Engineering from UTM or equivalent with at least 3 years working experience.
ii. Masters Degree in Management/Business in IT related environment with at least 3 years working experience.
All students applying to UTM must have a valid two-year old TOEFL or IELTS certificate. Students with a TOEFL score of 550 (or 79 IBT) or an IELTS Band 6 will be enrolled in a faculty programme without undergoing UTM English Courses.
Starting from Semester II 2010/2011, students who applied for Master or PhD programme – Teaching English as a Second Language, must have a valid two-year certificate of TEOFL with a score of 600 and above or IELTS Band 7 and above (or IBT/CBT equivalent).
However, students with low or without IELTS (Academic) scores, students without IELTS/TOEFL or those who will sit the UTM English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT) will have these options :
1. Attend and Complete Intensive English Crouse (IEC) – Low Intermediate
2. Attend and Complete Intensive English Course (IEC) – Intermediate
3. Attend and Complete IELTS Preparatory Course (IPC)
i. To produce graduates who are expert in Information System.
ii. To produce graduates who are able to use and apply Information System theories and approaches for analysing and solving real organization problem.
iii. To produce graduates who are able to demonstrate the critical and creative ideas in order to expand and sharing the knowledge in the area of Information System with the other researcher, university and industries.
iv. To produce graduates who are able to communicate technically and effectively across a range of contexts and audiences.
v. To produce graduates who are able to independently conduct lifelong learning and adapt readily to changing situations.
vi. To produce graduates who are able to demonstrate consistent professional ethics and high integrity.
